Is there a direct link between a country’s population density and its socio-economic development level?
This
link is not scientifically proven. Among the nations with small
populations we find developed countries, like Australia, as
well as developing countries such as those in Central Africa.
On the other hand, there are countries with large populations
that are developed and others that are developing. The real
causes of poverty and underdevelopment should be sought in other
factors, such as the correct use of financial resources, a
government’s political decisions, lack of international assistance, or the irrational
exploitation of natural resources. |
